About Skillibeng
Following his breakout in 2020, Skillibeng became one of Jamaica’s brightest young dancehall stars. ∙ Adopting the name Skillibeng—a reference to vintage dancehall slang from the ’80s and ’90s—he debuted in 2015 with the track “Brain Parts.” ∙ His first major hit was 2019’s “Brik Pan Brik,” which he followed with such hugely popular tracks as “Mr. Universe” and “Torpedo.” ∙ Skillibeng guested on “Bad Gyal,” a song from iconic dancehall MC Vybz Kartel’s 2020 LP, Of Dons & Divas. ∙ Dancehall star Popcaan, who hails from the same parish in Jamaica, invited Skillibeng to feature on the 2020 single “Have It,” and returned the favor by guesting on the young artist’s track “Pree.” ∙ The music video for 2021 anthem “Coke” courted controversy with its footage of Skillibeng performing inside the wreckage of a plane that had suspiciously crashed on the island.
