Mozart – Sinigaglia

Mozart – Sinigaglia

Few orchestras can boast a hundred-plus soloists on their books. The Berliner Philharmoniker excels thanks to its players’ individual excellence and readiness to combine as one. This inspired and inspiring recording marks the launch of a solo showcase series for members of the Berlin orchestra, beginning with the orchestra’s concertmaster, Noah Bendix-Balgley. A North Carolina native, Bendix-Balgley joined the Philharmoniker in 2014 and has performed with it as soloist a few times since. His vibrant tone and lyrical phrasing in Mozart’s youthful First Violin Concerto are complemented by countless exquisite orchestral details, preparing the ground for two revelatory delights by Leone Sinigaglia (1868-1944). Bendix-Balgley conveys the gentle nostalgia of the Italian composer and mountaineer’s Romanze before letting loose with his foot-tapping Rapsodia piemontese.
