Japanese rocker Hiroji Miyamoto got his start as the charismatic vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter for Elephant Kashimashi, who released their self-titled debut album in 1988. ∙ The band’s sophomore LP, 1988’s Elephant Kashimashi II, was voted one of ∙ After fronting Elephant Kashimashi for more than 30 years, Miyamoto released his first solo single in 2019—the dynamic, piano- and strings-driven “Fuyu No Hana.” ∙ He won Best Collaboration Video at the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards Japan for “Kemono yuku Hosomichi,” featuring celebrated J-rock singer Ringo Sheena. ∙ “P.S.
