Early Hours can mean a few different things: Are you winding down after being up all night, or are you just rising to meet the sun? Objekt envisioned his instalment in this series as a soundtrack to coming home after a night out. The Berlin producer says he took some minor liberties in his interpretation of “chill-out”, favouring downtempo tracks with a “mildly unhinged” vibe. “I wanted to balance the mix being soothing but also rather unsettling and strange,” he tells Apple Music. “I try to let all my sets be guided by some kind of narrative arc of mood and energy. In this case, it’s a mix to shepherd you through varying states of mental disarray at the afterparty before eventually nudging you gently out the door and into the morning light.” Among his favourite tracks: “Things Happen” by Coil (a long obsession) and Scorn’s “Light Trap” (because he couldn’t not include a Scorn song, he says).
