Composer and musician Gustavo Santaolalla has written hours of music for numerous feature films—and won Academy Awards for his work on Babel and Brokeback Mountain. His music features a variety of strings, including guitars and folk instruments, such as the charango on “Atacama” from his debut solo album Ronroco. Haunting, sombre guitars can be found on tracks like “As It Chud Be” from the movie Biutiful, and “The Last of Us” from the epic video game of the same name—which also included the dramatic orchestral number “All Gone (No Escape)”.
