Busta 929

A face of South Africa’s amapiano movement, producer/DJ Busta 929 has gotten parties started at a national level ever since he first popped out of nowhere with Mr JazziQ for their joint album, Maba Jabul’abantu, in 2020. Filled with ambient synths and energetic percussion, the project established the two as a potent duo while revealing Busta as a dynamic producer to watch. In 2021, Busta unleashed “Umsebenzi Wethu”, a song that became his biggest to date, before going forward to release his own solo effort. Titled Undisputed, the album is filled with memorable collaborations from artists across the region (Zuma, Focalistic and Mgiftoz SA) and mellow beats carved from the distinct, lush instrumentation of the house spinoff genre. The project proved to be another step in a coming out party for the DJ, whose status as an amapiano all-star is undisputed.
