Each month, the Apple Music Fitness Mix is helmed by one of dance and electronic music’s best DJs to deliver the perfect set for your next workout. This month’s mix was crafted by none other than Kevin Saunderson, the pioneering DJ and producer who helped draw up the blueprints for Detroit techno in the early ’80s. “I wanted to educate people on really good, strong dance music,” he says. “The theme is: elevate.” Although Saunderson himself usually turns to the boxing gym for workouts, he says these tracks can motivate you anywhere—especially on a long run where you need an extra boost of momentum. “I envision this mix [helping] people get lost in their workout, whatever it is—pushing them and making them forget that they’re even ‘working out.’” Among his favorite tracks: “Emotions,” a new cut from E-Dancer, Saunderson’s famous underground alias, which he’s recently dusted off and used for a partnership with his son, Dantiez. Also, don’t miss Kid Massive’s “House Music (Move Your Body),” featuring Jim C, which he calls an “outstanding remix full of energy that takes you to another level.”
